Supercritical CO2 Coriander Extract

Also known as: Coriander fruit extract, Coriandrum sativum extract, CO2 coriander extract, Coriander seed extract

C
Evidence

Supercritical CO2 extraction of coriander fruit concentrates volatile oils, particularly linalool, which may support cognitive function and stress response. Limited human clinical evidence exists; most data comes from traditional use and in vitro studies.

Primary uses

  • Cognitive support
  • Stress and anxiety management
  • Digestive support
  • Antioxidant support

How it works

  • Linalool and other volatile compounds may modulate GABAergic neurotransmission
  • Potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects
  • Traditional use suggests anxiolytic and mild sedative properties

Dosage

Typical range
200-600 mg daily (extract form)
Timing
Once or twice daily; morning or early afternoon preferred if stimulating effects desired
With food
May be taken with or without food; some prefer with food to minimize GI sensitivity
Duration
Typically used continuously for cognitive or stress support; benefits may emerge after 2-4 weeks of consistent use
Special populations
Pregnant/nursing women should consult a healthcare provider; safety in children not well established

Forms

  • Capsule· 70/100
  • Liquid extract· 70/100
  • Powder· 70/100

Safety

Common side effects

  • Generally well-tolerated at typical doses
  • Rare: mild GI upset, allergic reaction (in sensitive individuals)

Contraindications

  • Allergy to Apiaceae family plants (carrot, celery, parsnip, parsley, fennel)
  • Pregnancy and nursing (insufficient safety data)

Evidence notes

Coriander has traditional use for cognitive and digestive health, and linalool shows promise in preclinical studies for anxiolytic effects. However, human clinical trials specifically on supercritical CO2 coriander extract are minimal. The 15% linalool standardization is a quality marker but does not elevate evidence grade without clinical validation.

Grade C: Mostly observational or small trials; mechanism is plausible but unproven at scale.
