Your brain is not fixed

Neuroplasticity means you can shape your brain at any age.

Wired to rewire

For decades people believed the adult brain was hardwired and only declined with age. We now know that's wrong: the brain rewires itself throughout life in response to how you use it. That's both a responsibility and an opportunity — the choices you make shape the brain you'll have.

Key concept

Cognitive reserve

A lifetime of learning, challenge, and rich connections builds 'cognitive reserve' — a buffer that helps the brain keep functioning even as it ages. You build reserve by staying mentally and socially engaged.

Lifelong

Neuroplasticity — the brain's ability to form and reorganize connections — operates from infancy through old age. New neurons even form in the adult hippocampus, supported by exercise and learning.

B.It keeps rewiring based on how you use it, at any age

The adult brain continuously rewires in response to use, learning, and environment. That's why your habits and challenges genuinely shape your brain throughout life.
